Design on the Square has been named the architect for the upcoming project for the Pittsburgh Offices of a multi-national Fortune 500 company, Fiserv Inc. The space includes offices, data center, and meeting facilities.

This 1936 Tudor home had seen years of neglect. The old pine finger-jointed Tudor board were rotting and large cracks had formed in the stucco. A complete removal of the front facade down to the bare studs allowed for updates to the electrical wiring in that wall, installation of insulation, and new Zip-System wall sheathing.

An 8′ bay window with a copper standing seam roof added depth to the front of the house. The new Tudor boards were cut from Brazilian Mahogany and extend all the way to the peak of the roof, making the house look larger. Quality details were used including copper flashing at all horizontal elements and biscuit joints at each intersection of the timbers. 1″ diameter hardwood pegs were placed in the wood joints for an authentic old-world appearance. The new three-layer hard coat stucco exterior was kept 1/2″ back from the face of the timbers to create a subtle shadow line, accentuating the construction.

This project not only increased the curb appeal of the home, but also corrected problems with water infiltration, electrical concerns, and energy conservation.

Renovations of the interior of a 1922 five bay center hall colonial home in the historic district of New Hope, PA are underway.  Drawings have been submitted, reviewed and approved for two large additions to the home by the Historic Review Board and are in zoning approval now.

This project (still in the design phase) converts the abandoned state weights and measures building into four new loft-style condos with community space and a rood deck that overlooks the state house.  This project, when completed, should be a LEED certified Silver building, the first residential LEED building in Trenton.

This project involved the interior and exterior renovations of 48,000 square feet of an existing building for a charter high school tenant fit out.  The new school included creating new classrooms, offices, break-out rooms, specialty rooms for science, art, dance and a recording studio.  The former big-box construction supply store was also fitted out with all new restrooms, a warming kitchen, electrical and data systems, and multiple new HVAC units.  This project was completed in joint partnership with Lami Grubb Architects, the architect of record.  Design on the Square participated with Lami Grubb Architects in schematic design and design development, provided coordination with the engineering consultants, and produced construction drawings.

Upon entering Terminal C of the Philadelphia International Airport, passengers are greeted by this kiosk featuring fresh bakery items from the local LeBus Bakery and La Colombe Coffee.  The kiosk utilized rich dark wood veneers, marble tile and quartz countertops for warmth and character in an otherwise bleak intersection of two concourse buildings.
