Architect: Brian Viehland, Design on the Square Owner: Private Residence Location: Jackson Street, Trenton, NJ Completed: Spring 2009
This semi-detached row home in the historic Mill Hill neighborhood of Trenton, NJ had 4 bedrooms and only one tiny cramped bathroom. By eliminating the smallest bedroom and the existing bathroom, a new bathroom was created with compartmentalized functions which allows multiple users simultaneously.
In addition to the remodel of the second floor, the attic was renovated to house the homeowner’s office. adding new beams with integrated lighting and lofting the ceiling added a much need open feeling to the space. The use of dark plank flooring and bold intense color contrasting with stark white walls gave the space the modern feeling the homeowner wanted.
